AMCOM launches new portal to promote workforce excellence

By MAJ Allison Burns U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command

Have you ever thought, “There has to be a better way”? Soon, you will have the chance to turn those thoughts into action. Your experience on the front lines of our daily operations gives you a perspective that no one else has. You see the opportunities for improvement that others miss.

Soon you’ll have the power to turn those ideas into reality. The new AMCOM Ideas Portal is your direct line to command leadership to champion change and make a lasting impact.

This new platform is designed to empower our workforce by providing a streamlined channel to submit ideas and watch them come to life. We believe that the most impactful ideas often come from our dedicated workforce. We are committed to fostering an environment where every employee feels empowered to suggest ideas without fear of failure. Progress depends on transforming thoughtful concepts into practical results that deliver value to the command.

This initiative builds on a proven track record of employee-driven success. For example, an original AMCOM Uplift project led to the creation of a new digital offboarding application. An AMCOM G-1 pilot program for this SharePoint-based tool ran from September to December 2025, successfully offboarding 33 civilian employees. Based on this success, the digital application became the standard for offboarding civilian personnel, transitioning the command from a paper-based system to a digital workflow.

AMCOM received several employee recommendations aimed at enhancing the workforce’s quality of life. In response, G-4 purchased and installed new water fountains through the garrison with filtered bottle fillers on every AMCOM floor within the Sparkman Center — 16 in total. G-4 also worked with AAFES to maintain high-quality food services for the Sparkman Center workforce. Through their collaboration, they established multiple diverse food service vendors in 2025.

Another employee-led idea resulted in a command-wide workshop to modernize core business processes. This initiative, led by the Business Transformation Office with assistance from AMCOM G-6, moves the organization closer to the Army’s goal of a data-driven, agile future by evaluating end-to-end business processes to strengthen organizational design, workforce management and financial accountability.

Turning your thoughts into action will be easier than ever. The user-friendly submission form on the AMCOM Ideas Portal will ask for a topic, submitter information, your ideas and your recommended outcomes.

Your idea could be the next major improvement, drive cost savings or grow into a command-wide initiative. To encourage and recognize ideas that drive meaningful outcomes, an incentives program may include monetary rewards, formal recognition and other acknowledgments.

Get ready to make your voice heard and help shape the future of AMCOM.
